I work best with students who are trying to better understand themselves. You may be questioning who you are, navigating different parts of your identity, or feeling pulled in multiple directions by family, culture, relationships, school, or your own expectations. Maybe you’ve spent so much time taking care of others or trying to meet everyone’s expectations that you’ve lost touch with what you want. I enjoy working with students who are curious about the deeper patterns in their lives. Together, we’ll explore how your experiences, relationships, and identities have shaped the way you see yourself and connect with others. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, perfectionism, relationship challenges, life transitions, trauma, or questions about identity and belonging, therapy can be a space to make sense of your experiences and move toward a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling. My goal is to help you develop practical tools for the present while also gaining a deeper understanding of yourself so you can approach your relationships, decisions, and future with greater confidence, self-compassion, and clarity.
I am currently accepting adult clients (age 18 and up) for telehealth/virtual only. I see individuals who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, and those facing challenging life transitions. I specialize in working with individuals with anxiety, OCD and other related disorders using exposure and response prevention (ERP). My therapeutic approach is eclectic and collaborative, drawing from various modalities, including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based techniques. I believe in tailoring my approach to each client's unique needs and preferences. I am currently able to accept insurance clients with Aetna, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare plans. I recognize that starting therapy is a vulnerable experience. Please feel free to email me at katherine@stahllmhc.com to set up a free consultation to see if my services would be a good fit.
You have learned how to survive and be strong, and still it can feel heavy. This is a space where all parts of you are welcome, without judgment. If you are feeling anxious, depressed, stressed, or emotionally drained, or struggling with your sense of self, identity, or relationships, you are in the right place. You are the expert of your own life. You can show up as you are to speak your truth, laugh, cry, curse, or simply just be. Progress in therapy looks different for everyone. For you, it could be feeling more insightful and equipped to manage daily life’s stressors. It could be having more patience and tolerance for others. It could be feeling more supported, confident, calm, and/or optimistic. It could be feeling like you have a greater sense of stability, and purpose. As a trauma survivor, I know how brave it is to start therapy. You matter. You are important. You deserve a peaceful and fulfilling life where you feel more empowered and in control. You do not have to face this journey alone. We will do it together, at your own pace, with practical strategies, real progress, and true healing.
Whether facing in-the-moment or long term concerns, therapy provides a unique and professional third-party perspective. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression, and PTSD, and I am a proud queer therapist with a deep commitment to supporting LGBTQIA+ clients through both internal struggles and the very real weight of societal pressures. I have worked across a range of settings, including health promotion, Mass General Brigham, and group practice. I draw from an eclectic blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Humanistic Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Feminist Therapy—tailoring my approach to what fits you. I hold a Master's in Psychology from Boston College, where I have returned as an adjunct professor of the practice. I bring that same teaching orientation into my work with clients—helping you understand the skills, frameworks, and coping strategies behind what we explore together. My priority is to help you find relief as soon as possible, and to understand the deeper roots of what brought you here in order to sustain feeling better. I view sessions less as a clinical appointment, and more like an honest conversation with someone genuinely in your corner. I'd love to connect—feel free to reach out to schedule a consultation together!
Do you struggle with daily negative thoughts and low mood? School or work stress? Feeling hopeless about the future and wondering if you will ever feel better? If so, I think we could be a good fit together in therapy. In sessions, I utilize a mix of actively listening and offering concrete tools to help you feel better and reach your goals. My practice is currently virtual. In addition to my private practice, I am a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychology in Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College, where I teach psychology and psychiatry graduate students. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions! I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to answer your questions and see whether I would be a good fit for your therapy goals.
I am currently accepting new clients and offer both weekly therapy sessions and EMDR intensives, allowing you to choose the pace and structure that best fits your needs. I strive to create a warm, accepting, and non-judgmental space where clients feel safe to process painful emotions and life experiences. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to each individual, helping you move toward healing with clarity and support. I specialize in trauma treatment and offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), one of the most well-researched and effective therapies for trauma and PTSD. In addition to traditional talk therapy and weekly EMDR sessions, I also provide EMDR intensives and Ketamine-Assisted EMDR for clients seeking deeper, more accelerated healing. While I enjoy working with individuals across the lifespan, I have a particular passion for supporting adolescents and young adults as they navigate the complexities of today. I earned my Master of Social Work with a specialization in behavioral health from the University of Maryland School of Social Work, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Wake Forest University. I am licensed to practice in Massachusetts and Maryland.

My previous clients have reported liking my style of being down-to-earth, using humor in session, open to feedback and not acting like the “expert” on your experience. Therapy is a collaborative process that starts with your goals and expectations. I am here to support you and work together on your goals at a pace that feels helpful for you. I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent teens and young adults struggling with anxiety, depression, life changes, relationship challenges, childhood trauma, and perfectionism. College is a time of transition where we learn not only about academics, but about who we are and how to navigate the myriad challenges of life. It is both exciting and stressful, fun and scary. And when we struggle with added anxiety, depression, traumas, relationship difficulties, and more it can make the whole experience feel overwhelming. I specialize in helping college students to cope with these challenges so they can thrive in school, work, and everyday life. I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, where I majored in Psychology and developed my interest in helping others. I went on to receive a Masters of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern University in Boston and then worked there for 6 years before starting my practice. I blend elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy into my practice. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and have seen dramatic results from its use, helping clients to overcome longstanding problems much more rapidly than with other therapeutic techniques. My practice is now fully telehealth, giving clients maximum flexibility for scheduling and convenience.

Effective therapy creates meaningful, lasting, joyful change. As your therapist I can help you resolve the inner and outer conflicts that create pain and exhaustion. Life brings unchosen experiences. Sometimes we feel hurt, scared, or deeply alone. Sometimes what happens seems too big to manage. For 25+ years I have had the privilege of helping people learn to live as their "best self," able to manage their moods, thoughts and situations with compassion and skill, to make changes to reach their goals, and to find happiness. I lived and worked in Africa for 6 years, and have helped people from many cultures find their joy. My specialty is helping people understand their unique "recipe" of biology, upbringing, relationships, and current situations, and how they might work with their "ingredients" to create immediate and long-lasting positive change. My approach is practical. I integrate psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapies, internal and strategic family systems, EMDR and other trauma-informed approaches, and mindfulness-based stress management. Depression, anxiety, loneliness, frustration, pulls towards behaviors that lead to pain...whatever is interfering with your well-being is worth changing. Together we can produce change. Please EMAIL
Hello! Thank you for your interest in starting therapy. I have a lot of experience supporting college and advanced degree students who are dealing with anxiety, OCD, and stress. I take a CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), goals-focused approach. I am licensed in Massachusetts and New York and I can see students in either state--in fact, I work with a number of students who go to school in MA but live in NY when they are not on campus and vice versa. I'd be happy to set up a time to talk so you can ask any questions that you have to see if it would be a good fit for you.

Have you been in therapy before or are you new to mental health therapy? My goal as your therapist is to meet you where you are at and move together towards the changes you would like to see. I pull from a variety of different styles to address your goals, including skill building, CBT, psychodynamic, and trauma-informed care approaches. I hope to foster a space where you feel seen and heard and where you are able to take care of what has brought you to therapy (or back to therapy) in the first place. I offer weekly, bi-weekly, or, in some cases, monthly sessions at 45 or 60 minutes in length via telehealth. All sessions start with a phone call where we 1) make sure I am the right fit for you, 2) verify your insurance or payment method is active and all set, and 3) schedule you an intake and an ongoing appointment time that works for your schedule. I return all calls and email requests for therapy services and hope that I may be of help to you at this point in time or, at the very least, be able to point you in the right direction.
Everyone experiences distressing or overwhelming challenges at different points in life. Many people struggle to manage these inevitable difficulties, get stuck and then subsequently feel defined by their emotional pain. This can negatively impact relationships, ambitions, work and self-worth. I believe in people’s inherent right to live meaningful and joyful lives and in their ability to choose how to respond to life’s challenges. I support my clients through their courageous process of self-exploration and self-compassion. My therapeutic approach involves treating people as a whole: mind, body & spirit. This allows people to develop a deeper understanding of themselves, and with the support of an authentic and collaborative therapeutic relationship, my clients are able to make the changes they want. My areas of specialty include trauma, addictions, depression and anxiety disorders. I am EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) trained. EMDR is recognized as a highly effective trauma treatment and allows people to heal from emotional pain that has stemmed from distressing life experiences. “Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional” H.M.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in the assessment and treatment of anxiety, panic, phobias, OCD, and related disorders in college students and young adults. I also work with clients looking to effectively navigate and cope with current life stressors (e.g., work challenges, interpersonal relationships, transitions). I use evidenced-based techniques in my work with clients, and primarily from a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) perspective. By emphasizing the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors clients will gain greater insight into their concerns and learn techniques for managing their anxiety and other life stressors. To target the behavioral aspects of anxiety, I will frequently incorporate exposure and response prevention (ERP) into my work to help clients to engage in exposures both during sessions and in real-world settings. I use a collaborative, personalized, and warm approach, working with clients to better understand their anxieties or challenges and encouraging them to become their own therapists over time while achieving their goals. I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at Bowdoin College, research assistantship at Boston University at the Family and Development Treatment Lab, doctoral studies at Boston University where I trained at their Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders (CARD), clinical internship at the VA Boston Healthcare System, and postdoctoral training at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. I then was a staff Psychologist at the McLean Anxiety Mastery Program (MAMP), an intensive outpatient program at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Most recently, I was a staff Psychologist and Assistant Director at Emerson College’s Counseling and Psychological Services.
