Therapists for college students near University of Pennsylvania
I provide individual, couples, and family therapy in person in Philadelphia, and I can see clients virtually in most states including New York. Because I completed my postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania and was the director of Penn's O’Brien Center for Addiction Treatment, I have extensive experience with the needs of Penn students. I work well with student athletes, including those who are recovering from injuries. I am very familiar with the application processes for medical school, veterinary school, law school, and business school--and with careers in competitive industries such as consulting, investment banking, private equity, hedge funds, and real estate development. I can help students with burnout and academic stress as well as anxiety, perfectionism, and self-doubt. In addition to working with Penn Students, I also have experience with students from NYU, Georgetown, the University of Michigan, Yale, Brown, Fordham, Drexel, Bryn Mawr, Villanova, St. Joe's, Cornell, the University of Delaware, the University of Pittsburgh, American University, Penn State, Thomas Jefferson University, SUNY Upstate Medical University, and many other schools. I have helped students to find meaningful romantic relationships and to heal earlier relationship injuries that may be getting in the way of intimacy. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) can be very helpful for overcoming childhood and relationship wounding. More broadly, I am skilled at helping with career coaching, anxiety, depression, trauma, insomnia, grief, loneliness and addiction. I also work with people to improve their relationships with social media and screens. My style is nonjudgmental and flexible. I often use EMDR to help people to work through stressful or traumatic events and to better understand themselves. Depending on the client’s goals, I can integrate CBT, DBT, and solution-oriented approaches. I have extensive training in IFS (Internal Family Systems) and, for couples, IFIO (Intimacy from the Inside Out). I also have specialized training in the CRAFT approach for how to talk to loved ones about addictive behaviors without hurting the relationship. Using EMDR, I can help people to address the root causes of complex issues like addiction. My background is in positive psychology and addiction. My postdoctoral fellowship at Penn was in positive psychology. From that I learned to help people to use their strengths to build happier lives and careers.

Starting or returning to college can bring up unique challenges—navigating relationships, managing stress, adjusting to new independence, or figuring out who you are and what you want. I work best with students who are thoughtful, curious, and open to exploring their inner world, even if that feels a little intimidating at first. Many of my clients are balancing academics with the ups and downs of friendships, family, dating, and questions about their identity. My practice is LGBTQ-affirming and welcoming to students of all backgrounds. I provide a calm and supportive space where you can slow down, untangle what feels overwhelming, and begin to feel more grounded. Whether you’re seeking clarity in relationships, support with stress or anxiety, or a place to process deeper emotions, therapy can be a meaningful step toward feeling more connected and at ease with yourself. I look forward to supporting you!
Angelique work stems from a social justice lens; putting our lives into the context of society, for better or worse. She is LGBTQIA+ and gender-affirming. She believes that multicultural awareness is a must rather than an afterthought. While starting therapy can seem intimidating or daunting, Angelique wants you to know that you always deserve a seat in the therapy room or video call. She specializes in working with clients who are new to therapy by creating a safe space free from judgment. She aims to help clients uncover the strengths they already possess. She often helps clients explore their intersecting identities and navigate life's complications: life transitions, new identities, and different understandings of the world or ourselves. Together, you and Angelique will explore which therapeutic approaches are the best fit for you. She utilizes a strengths-based approach, regularly drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Relational-Cultural Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She strongly believes that whether a problem is new or old, there is always an opportunity for growth and a new perspective.
I support students who are used to holding it together for everyone else—but privately struggle with anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, trauma, or feeling disconnected from themselves and others. You might overthink everything, avoid asking for help, or feel exhausted by the pressure to perform academically and socially. My practice offers a warm, steady space to slow down, make sense of what you’re carrying, and build real coping skills—not just quick fixes. I provide trauma-informed therapy using EMDR, partswork, art therapy, and somatic/body-based approaches that help you understand how stress and past experiences affect your body, emotions, and relationships so you can feel more grounded and confident. I accept funding through VCAP (Victim Compensation Assistance Program) which helps cover the cost of 6-12 months of therapy for sexual assault survivors in Pennsylvania (no need to have ever reported assault in order to be eligible to apply). You’ve had enough of the shame, secrecy, and broken promises tied to pornography addiction. You’re capable and successful—yet inside you feel stuck. Trying harder hasn’t worked. Rules, willpower, and white-knuckling fail over time. For some, a relationship they care about is at risk. For others, it’s the quiet fear of where this is heading if nothing changes. For those dealing with porn or sexual addiction, generic counseling isn’t enough. This depth of work requires a specialized, focused approach that addresses what’s actually driving the behavior—not just trying to stop it. I’m Pete, founder of Proven Path Counseling—an award-winning psychotherapist with 15 years of experience serving PA & NJ, specializing in porn and sex addiction. I’m recognized as a trusted authority in men’s issues and sexual addiction, training and supervising other clinicians and appearing in media on sexual addiction, trauma, and men’s mental health. Clients value my active, direct, and encouraging approach—real accountability, practical tools, and work that targets the drivers beneath the patterns so change actually lasts. That's why men and other therapists trust my work. If you’re here, you’ve already taken an important first step. Reach out for a free consultation to see if we're a good fit.

Offering HIPAA-compliant virtual Telehealth Psychiatric appointments for patients located in PA and NJ. Our practice does not have admitting privileges at local hospitals, and therefore, if a patient is high risk for self-harm, is acutely suicidal or needing crisis intervention, has a history of inpatient psychiatric admissions, suicide attempts, or psychosis, we may recommend providers with additional emergency resources outside of our practice.
I am a clinical psychologist practicing in-person in Philadelphia PA and via Telehealth in Boston, MA. I work with adults with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, coping with medical illness, immigration stressors, self-esteem issues, and questions of identity. I believe I work particularly well with people who want to feel closer to themselves and others. In my practice, I focus on building a strong relationship based on trust, acceptance, and authenticity. I create a collaborative, warm, and non-judgmental space. Recognizing emotions and patterns that have roots in the past can free you up to live a more full and meaningful life in the present. My therapeutic approach is primarily psychodynamic, and I also integrate other techniques that can help with more immediate symptom relief, such as acceptance-and-commitment therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy. Whether you want to address specific symptoms, cope with difficult realities in your life, or deepen your self-understanding, seeking therapy is an important decision. I understand that finding a therapist can feel daunting, and it's important to find someone who feels like a good match. I would be happy to have a conversation with you about what you’re looking for and how I can help.
Life can be full of challenges and tribulations that can impact our well being and mental health. I believe our inherent resiliency and adaptability as humans help us overcome the many challenges that we face. Therapy allows for a person to be their true self, and to have their strengths and talents fully recognized. My work with clients is grounded in acceptance, validation, and empathy. I strive to create a safe environment for my clients to begin the process of change and growth. From my perspective, psychotherapy is about lasting change, and gaining the insight and tools needed to make that change. One of the strengths of therapy is to be heard without being judged or told how to feel or think. Therapy can lead to greater insight than simply talking to family and friends. It can offer encouragement and support for you to take a new step toward lasting change. Although change can be challenging at first, we are often called to it because something is just not working. Establishing a trusting relationship with a therapist can help bridge the gap between the anxiety to change, and the change needed to engage in a more fulfilling life. If you feel ready to take the next step, please contact me to set up an appointment.
I provide a therapeutic space that supports rapport-building and builds upon clients’ strengths. One of my approaches is to empower my clients to implement skills and techniques provided in sessions that help symptoms of anxiety, depression and relationship conflicts.

I work best with students who are motivated and thoughtful, but feel stuck—whether that’s struggling to focus, feeling overwhelmed by academic pressure, or wondering if ADHD, a learning difference, or anxiety might be part of the picture. I offer neuropsychological evaluations to help students understand how their brain works—clarifying strengths, challenges, and what may be getting in the way of learning or performance. These evaluations are often helpful for students seeking answers, clarity, or documentation for academic supports. I also provide CBT-based therapy, which focuses on practical tools to manage anxiety, stress, perfectionism, and unhelpful thinking patterns. Therapy is active and collaborative, and we work toward concrete changes that make daily life and school feel more manageable. If you’re looking for clearer answers about yourself and support that’s structured, practical, and grounded, I may be a good fit.

Some of us hold onto “the hurt” for years and years until it becomes so faint— so normalized— we lose the ability to fully remember what life unburdened by “the hurt” can feel like. As a trauma therapist, my goal is to help you regain autonomy, awareness, and understanding over your life, your relationships, and your path forward. Each and every part of you has played a role in helping you survive “the world as it is.” My goal is to help you discover the slice of “the world as it should be,” mobilizing you towards finding healing community, chosen family, or space where you can flourish— where hypervigilance and fear melt away. I work best with fellow creatives, performers, organizers, underdogs, self-starters, former gifted kids, healers, survivors, and meaning seekers. I’m not easily shocked or appalled— you don’t have to be ashamed of your lived experience, and you are never going to be “too much.” All who are Queer, Trans, -of Color, (Dis)abled, & Neurodiverse are especially welcome. I have seven years of experience in supporting people on their life transitions and mental wellness journey as a life coach & case manager prior to becoming a Licensed Social Worker. I’m been training and practicing with Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy since 2021 for both individuals and couples. I’m also cohort member of the Embody Lab’s next Integrstive Somatic Trauma Therapy Certification for Fall 2025. If you are a survivor of sexual assault or other crimes of a similar nature in Pennsylvania, I may be able to offer net-zero fee therapy under PA’s Victims Conpensation Assistance Program. I’m here for the short-term or the long-haul— your healing journey is in your hands, and you determine the pace and speed we go. If you need someone to press you forward and hold you accountable, I can do that. If you need someone to just “hold space” until you’re ready to do something later, I often do that too. The door is always open. Talk soon? P.S. I unironically and unapologetically LOVE em dashes— hands off, GenAI!
I work with people who are interested in improving their relationships with one another. Therapy is a place where partners can learn how to disrupt old patterns and start experiencing the pleasure of interacting in new ways. The work involves talking, examining the obstacles to talking, and using what happens in sessions as a way to understand what goes on outside of therapy. It also involves bringing creativity to the problems at hand and trying things differently. I like to create a space with ample opportunity for collaboration as we address the issues that present. Most of all, I strive to provide a safe environment where each individual can explore anything about themselves in their relationships. If you're interested in enhancing the communication and understanding in your relationship, therapy may be right for you. I offer 50-minute and 75-minute sessions in-person and online. Therapy is a significant investment; if you're curious whether therapy could help, I encourage you to reach out to schedule a free phone or video consultation.
I believe therapy is meant to be a collaborative process between client and therapist. As such, clients create goals for themselves while therapist are present to assist them in reaching their goals. I strive to create an environment which is affirming and comfortable yet also expect I will challenge clients in their assumptions regarding thoughts, behaviors, and interpersonal interactions. I use a variety of therapeutic modalities in my practice, tailoring therapy to the individual client(s) I am serving. I regularly use humor and self disclosure, as a way to increase therapeutic relationship, when appropriate. I have worked in social services and mental health for over 15 years. I began my career as a Resident Advisor and by volunteering on hotlines while in college. I then transitioned to working as a milieu therapist with children. Following completion of my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy, I worked with families struggling with transitions, relationship conflict, and child behavioral/mental health concerns as a mobile family therapist. While working as a mobile therapist, I received additionally training in Eco-Systemic Family Therapy through the Philadelphia Child and Family Training Therapy program. I am one of a few male Certified Sex Therapist, certified through the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists, with offices in Philadelphia and Media. I work with couples and individuals. I specialize in working with LGBTQ inidividuals. My areas of speciality include, people seeking to understand their sexual orientation and/or gender identity. I work with gay and lesbian couples who are navigating both traditional couple dynamics as well as issues specific to being a part of a same-sex couple. I have worked with clients in traditional and non-traditional relationship dynamics, including open and polyamorous relationships. Additionally, I often work with people attempting to work through sexual dysfunctions or concerns. I enjoy working with male identified clients as I often find they are not generally given the latitude to be emotionally expressive and doing so with another male can be very affirming. My rate is $175 for individual sessions and $200.00 for couples. Sessions are typically 50 minutes in duration.
People often want to improve some aspect of their emotional and mental health. In our work together, we will explore the areas of your life that are challenging or distressing, access and process difficult emotions, and make meaning of patterns in your unique narrative. I have specialized experience in working with transgender and queer individuals and provide affirming, nonjudgmental therapy for all folks from age 4 to 54. I believe in creating a safe and empathic space for a collaborative therapeutic relationship. Each session provides an opportunity for strength, self-awareness, and self-compassion, and I strive to provide a supportive and holding environment for such growth to be possible. While my practice is specialized to provide non-pathologizing and affirming therapy for queer and trans individuals, I welcome clients of all gender identities and orientations.
