Welcome! I consider counseling a creative space in which you and I collaborate to understand your interpersonal patterns, explore your emotions, build an individualized set of coping skills, and create accountability for working toward your goals. I specialize in treatment for adults, and I work with individuals and couples to understand the roots of your current distress, target issues that are causing daily problems, build self-compassion, and develop evidence-based strategies for ongoing management of symptoms. I work well with individuals and couples who are ready to make and change and motivated for therapy. I am an integrative therapist, meaning I use tools and frameworks from various approaches to counseling based on your unique needs, identities, and lived experiences. My doctoral-level training has supported me in understanding current research to provide you evidence-based interventions in addition to a warm and supportive space to process. I also offer psychodiagnostic assessment, including testing for mood disorders, personality disorders, ADHD, and general IQ testing. Please feel free to reach out for more details. Hi, I’m Amanda (she/her) I identify as white, cis gendered, middle-class woman. As someone with a great deal of privilege, I believe it is my job to make sure I understand my privilege through active learning, unlearning and holding space for others. I believe that we all have access to an inner knowledge that helps us overcome our challenges. I use several tools to help clients access this knowledge including talk therapy, art therapy, and regulation strategies, mindfulness and meditation practices based off client need and comfort level. My approach is relational, trauma-informed and strength-based. I work with clients where they are at on any given day. From there, we collaborate to build skills and resiliency. I work with teens, adults and families to help find resources within themselves. I work with many clients who have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression and or difficulty in transition.
The bulk of my practice is working with OCD, general anxiety, and grief/loss. I particularly enjoy working with young adults.
I’m a licensed professional counselor working with individuals and couples. My style is laid back, collaborative, and incorporates evidence-based practices in an approach to healing, learning life skills, and self-discovery. I believe this leads us to live healthy, fulfilling, and meaningful lives. Working with both individuals and couples, my expertise lies in anxiety, divorce and relationship issues as well as working with those going through life transitions or interested in personal or professional growth. There are times in all of our lives where we are faced with a crisis of emotional, mental or spiritual unease and I believe we all have the capacity for healing and self-growth. When we find ourselves at these crossroads finding support in a safe and non-judgmental environment can be of great help. Wherever you are in your personal journey I understand it takes courage to reach out and I feel privileged and humbled to walk with you through that transition. My philosophy encompasses elements of both Gestalt and Existentialism and I seek to connect all facets of a person’s world (the family they grew up in, their gender, faith, culture, education, age, etc.) as I believe that each person has inherent worth and the capacity to grow toward personal fulfillment.

As an art therapist and counselor, I utilize the process and product of art making to support individuals in discovering insight, moving toward growth, and finding balance. Art therapy can offer an alternative means of communication to express difficult emotions or experiences that may feel impossible to put into words. You do not have to identify as an artist to find healing through art therapy. Art making is always optional and no artistic skills or previous experience is needed. I specialize in processing grief and loss, men’s issues and masculinities, relationship distress, immigration/minority stress, building self-compassion, and transitions (e.g., questions about a major and career change) through collaborative approaches. I predominantly use interpersonal, relational, and dynamic therapies to help clients reach their goals.
In my practice I work with children, teens, and adults who are having a hard time understanding, communicating about, and coping with their emotions and experiences. I enjoy collaborating with folks to find the right therapeutic container for the work that will offer ease, growth, and healing in daily life and beyond.This looks different for everyone and I’ve found that art, music, play therapy, and somatic inquiry are some of the ways I lean into building a therapeutic container that is attuned to each person's unique needs. I have experience and strength in working with 2SLGBTQIA+, BIPOC, Chronically sick, Disabled, Neurodiverse, Children, Youth, Families, and Communities with a focus on cultural experiences, queer and trans experiences, life transitions, and trauma recovery.

Carmen specializes in working with adolescents and adults, families and couples. She’s been working with people experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, and many other disorders for over 9 years. Sometimes the effects of these issues and concerns come out in our behavior, work, relationships or maybe everything we do. Our behaviors and actions don't always reflect how we'd like to behave.
