*I’m a therapist at Mentella Health, a tele-health group private practice* Welcome! My name is Zena and I specialize in working with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, interpersonal concerns, and life challenges/adjustments. I have a MA in counseling and a BS in psychology and over five years working as a therapist in various outpatient settings. My approach to therapy is integrative; I work from a client-centered/humanistic lens incorporating elements of psychodynamic, existential, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and compassion-focused. Therapy is collaborative, there is no one size fits all approach to therapy, therefore I tailor my approach based on the needs of the individual. I believe the most important element of therapy is the therapeutic relationship, therefore I aim to be open-minded and authentic in the therapy room. My goal is to help clients gain insight by providing a safe, non-judgemental environment that fosters acceptance while also encouraging clients to work toward their goals (e.g. balancing acceptance with change). My ideal client is someone who is curious, open-minded, and willing to explore new prescriptives and how past experiences might be impacting how we currently engage with ourselves, others, and in the world. Many of my clients report increased self-awareness, self-acceptance, and ability to understand, accept, and regulate their internal experiences. When I am not providing therapy, I enjoy being in nature/hiking, spending time with my family and cats, and watching horror movies.

ACCEPTING NEW MICHIGAN TELETHERAPY CLIENTS AS OF 6/1/26 As a social worker, Danica's approach to therapy is anti-oppressive. She is a straight, cis, straight-size, Filipina Asian American woman who strives to be a better accomplice to all races, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, disabilities, body sizes, faiths, and spiritualities. Danica believes in the therapeutic philosophy that life just sucks sometimes; sometimes a client wants a therapist to help it feel less sucky, and other times, they need a therapist to just actually listen to them. She also combines scientific, evidence-based practices and therapy treatments taught at the best social work school and program in the world with the people skills and street smarts from working in a local private practice to starting her own solo practice. She creates and communicates customized treatment plans to each person who walks into her therapy room or, in the case of teletherapy, appears on the computer screen. Her main areas of focus include anxiety (generalized anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, OCD), pregnancy (from infertility to postpartum to grieving due to miscarriage or abortion), and trauma (which not only includes PTSD, but also complex-PTSD/borderline personality disorder and identity-based trauma). Danica's ideal population is from young adults to middle-aged. However, some exceptions can be made for folks a bit younger or older. Please reach out if, after reading her bio, you think you would be a great fit. As a 1.5-generation Filipina-American, she personally understands the intersection of mental health with the Asian diaspora and therefore, encourages Asian-Americans to reach out for mental health services. Danica has recently completed her certificate in Sport Social Work from The University of Michigan in July 2025. Inspired by her long-time favorite self-care activity of endurance running, she noticed a growing trend of young adults turning to running half and full marathons as their new self-care activity, too. She decided to receive more training on how to care for the mental health of athletes from those who have been playing sports since childhood to nontraditional athletes who are just starting to appreciate what their bodies can do. Danica is also a former library social worker trained in bibliotherapy, which can be used as a standalone treatment or as a complement to other therapies to help with any mental health issue. Please check out the website listed to learn more about Danica's experience.

You’re managing school, work, relationships, and everyone’s expectations — and people assume you’re fine. But underneath, you’re exhausted from keeping it together. You’ve even tried some self-care, but it’s not hitting like it used to. Many of the clients I work with are BIPOC, queer, and/or neurodivergent adults navigating anxiety, chronic stress, relational trauma, and major life transitions while working toward a greater sense of self and safety. Together, we'll untangle the patterns that keep you stuck and help you move through life with less pressure and more ease.

Welcome! Transitions are rarely as "seamless" as they look on social media. Whether you are a first-generation college student navigating a system that wasn’t built for you, or a member of the LGBTQIA+ community looking for a truly affirming space to land, I am here to support you. Why work with me? As a therapist with lived experience as both a first-gen graduate and a member of the queer community, I understand the "double-lens" many students carry. You won't have to spend your sessions educating me on the stakes of a "B-" grade when your family is counting on you, or explaining why coming out feels different when your campus and home life collide. I provide a space where you don't have to "code-switch" or pick one part of your identity over the other. In our work together, we will: Navigate "The First-Gen Weight": Unpack the imposter syndrome and achievement guilt that often come with being the first in your family to pursue a degree. Explore Identity with Ease: Provide a grounded, queer-affirming environment where your identity is celebrated, not just "tolerated." Build a "Chosen Home": Move past just "surviving" the semester and start building an internal sense of safety and belonging. College is a massive life shift—a pressure cooker for anxiety and depression. You don't have to figure it out alone. My clients are often high-achieving students who feel like 'outsiders' in academic spaces. They are looking for a therapist who 'gets it'—someone who understands the intersection of cultural expectations, queer identity, and the unique pressures of the first-generation experience. I know that taking the first step can feel overwhelming—especially if you’ve been taught to 'just push through' or if you’re worried about whether this space is truly for you. My approach is informed by years of experience "on the inside" as a public school teacher and guidance counselor. I’ve seen firsthand how the educational system can both support and fail students, especially those from marginalized backgrounds. This means I don’t just offer emotional support; I understand the actual logistics of academic burnout, the maze of campus resources, and the specific exhaustion of being a student in today's world. You don't need to have it all figured out before we talk. Whether you have a specific goal or just a heavy feeling you can't quite name, you are welcome here. I offer a free, 15-minute consultation call so we can see if we’re a good match—no pressure, just a chance to connect. Check out my website and click CONTACT ME to send me a brief message. I usually respond within 24–48 hours, and we can take it one small step at a time from there. Smiles:) Melissa Rappaport, MA, LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor)

Finding joy starts with a single step, and reaching out is one of the bravest steps you can take. My role as your therapist is to guide you toward rediscovering the light within yourself—your joy, your strength, and your unique potential. Together, we’ll create a space where you feel seen, heard, and supported, as we gently untangle the patterns and barriers keeping you from living fully. Whether you’re struggling with self-doubt, anxiety, depression, or relationship challenges, I’m here to remind you that healing and growth are possible. Using a strength-based approach rooted in empathy and tailored techniques, I’ll support you as you take intentional steps toward the life you deserve—a life filled with clarity, confidence, and joy.

College and young adult years can be both exciting and overwhelming. Many students and young adults find themselves managing anxiety, depression, or grief while also trying to keep up with academic demands, relationships, work, and expectations from family or themselves. Feeling stressed, burned out, unmotivated, or emotionally drained does not mean you are failing — it means you are human and navigating a lot at once. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling. I work with college students, young adults, and adolescents using a client-centered, goal-oriented approach. Therapy is a collaborative process where we focus on what feels most pressing for you and develop practical strategies to help you cope more effectively with stress, emotions, and life transitions. I support individuals experiencing: * Anxiety and depression related to academic pressure, performance stress, and major life changes * Grief and loss, including losses that occur during college or early adulthood * Emotional overwhelm, burnout, difficulty with focus, and feeling “stuck” or disconnected * Relationship and family stress, especially as roles, independence, and boundaries shift * Autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and behavioral concerns in adolescents and young adults I use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and stress-reduction techniques to help clients build coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and gain clarity during challenging seasons. Therapy should feel supportive, nonjudgmental, and empowering. Whether this is your first time seeking counseling or you are returning to therapy, my goal is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported as you work toward balance, confidence, and improved well-being.

I specialize in working with students in college, educators, people in helping professionals, and young parents. My clients desire someone who can support them in their goals, who listens well, and sees them through a holistic perspective. My clients understand that healing is a process and desire to live a wholehearted life but often feel stuck or find them repeating patterns they can't break. I have been a school social worker for many years, so I bring my experience to help you navigate your life and professional transitions. I offer a non-judgmental space with the goal of empowering my clients to guide themselves to health and wholeness. You may feel like you should have everything figured out by now. The truth is, most people don’t. College can bring a lot of pressure, academically, socially, and personally. You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, lonely, or navigating relationship challenges, or questioning your direction about what comes next. Many students I work with come to therapy because something in their life doesn’t feel quite right. Sometimes that means exploring the stress happening right now, and other times it means getting curious about past experiences or childhood dynamics that may still be shaping patterns in relationships, self-confidence, or how you handle difficult emotions. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in helping you better understand yourself while also building practical tools to manage stress and feel steadier. Therapy with me doesn’t have to feel stiff or overly clinical; humor, swearing, and showing up as your real self are all welcome here. My office is located by a GVSU Laker Line bus stop and is about a 10-minute walk. You don’t have to sort everything out on your own. Reach out if you're ready to start getting the support you need!

My favorite thing in the world is to affirm for someone that their feelings matter. I want you to feel safe expressing all of your thoughts and emotions. There is no problem too big or too small to talk about. No matter the situation, your reactions and feelings are important. I view therapy as a collaborative process. My clients tell me what they need help with, and we work together to figure out what their best course of action is. My job isn’t to tell you what to do and send you away. My job is to listen to you and empower you to take action to improve your life. I work with children, teens, adults, and families. My specialties include mood disorders (anxiety and depression), self-esteem issues, and ADHD. I use an eclectic approach, meaning that I tailor your therapeutic experience to fit your specific needs. I’ll share my insights with you, as well as coping skills for you to try outside of session. I provide a space where you are safe to be open and authentic and can talk about whatever you need. I’m here for you and would be honored to walk alongside you in your journey toward a stronger, healthier life.

I work primarily with individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression and diminished self-esteem. These issues manifest in many different ways and may include an inability to make decisions, difficulty maintaining relationships, low confidence, discomfort in social settings, exhaustion, fears that may seem irrational and poor view of self. It is important to me that my clients truly feel heard and I strive to instill strength in every session. Welcome. My name is Julia, and I’m here to support you. As a therapist, I specialize in trauma recovery and all that comes with it - depression, anxiety, grief, anger, coping (both healthy and unhealthy), and more. I have specific experience working with people battling substance abuse, and with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. I primarily use mindfulness, parts work, DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) skills, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) in sessions with my clients. Therapy is a lot like exercise - it’s hard to get started, it hurts while you’re doing it… and you’re always glad you did it anyway. The first step is asking for help. This is hard, but you can absolutely do it. You're already here, aren't you?

Life is a story, and sometimes, we find ourselves caught up in chapters that feel challenging, overwhelming, or just downright confusing. But what if I told you that you have the power to rewrite your narrative? As a firm believer in the transformative power of therapy, I've discovered a gem that has become a compass for many of my therapy journeys—Narrative Therapy. Let me spill the beans on why it's not just about talking through problems but reshaping the entire story. 1. Separating Person from Problem: Imagine detangling yourself from the web of problems that seem to define you. Narrative Therapy invites you to step back, helping you realize that you are not the problem; the problem is just a chapter in your vast and intricate story. 2. Re-authoring Your Narrative: Ever wished you could be the author of your own story? With Narrative Therapy, you can be! Together, we roll up our sleeves and rewrite the script. We discard the old, tired narratives and create new, empowering tales that resonate with the person you're becoming. 3. Making Meaning, Shifting Perspectives: The beauty of Narrative Therapy lies in its ability to help you make meaning of your experiences. By changing the language around the presenting problem, we open doors to new perspectives. Suddenly, the story isn't about defeat but about resilience, growth, and newfound strength. Your Story, Your Power In the world of Narrative Therapy, your story isn't a burden; it's your greatest asset. We strip away the labels and limitations, giving you the pen to script a narrative that aligns with your authentic self. Ready to Redefine Your Narrative? If you're craving a change in your life's storyline, let's embark on this transformative journey together. Narrative Therapy isn't just about finding solutions; it's about discovering the incredible resilience and wisdom within you. Here's to re-authoring, reclaiming, and celebrating your unique story!

Hi! I am an EMDR-Certified and AASECT-Certified Sex Therapist with a specialization in working with college students (both "traditional" and "non-traditional"). I deeply enjoy getting to work with folks who are looking to address challenges they might be experiencing in their relationships: their relationships to partners, friends, family members, and importantly, to themselves. Many life experiences may lead us to feel in disconnection with ourselves: whether you have experienced relational or institutional trauma, are navigating multiple life transitions (e.g. beginning a new degree, receiving a new medical diagnosis), or are exploring social, sexual or gender identity, I am here to help you reconnect with yourself and take steps forward in your healing journey.
