Ghalia Alkassir
Therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you’ve struggled to make sense of your experiences or feel understood. I work with people who often feel stuck, unmotivated, or like they’re falling behind in ways that are hard to explain to others. You may notice patterns you want to change, whether it's in your mood, focus, motivation, or your relationship with food, but aren’t sure how to start.
I’m a person-centered therapist, which means our work begins with understanding you and your experience, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach. Together, we’ll explore what feels challenging, what’s been holding you back, and the tools and strategies that fit your life. Therapy with me is collaborative, flexible, and grounded in respect and curiosity.
I frequently support teens, young adults, and adults navigating depression, ADHD (including undiagnosed or late-diagnosed experiences), and concerns related to eating, especially binge eating disorder. I also work with clients facing life transitions, academic or career pressures, family expectations, and identity or cultural challenges. Many of the people I see have felt misunderstood in other spaces, and I strive to create an environment where you feel seen, heard, and valued.
My approach draws from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectal Behavior Therapy, and trauma-informed care, always adapted to your goals and pace. Together, we’ll focus on insight, skill-building, and practical strategies while also honoring your unique experiences, values, and culture.
If you’re looking for a therapist who is thoughtful, collaborative, approachable, and genuinely invested in your well-being, I’d be glad to connect and see if we’re a good fit. You don’t need to have all the answers to start, just the willingness to explore what’s next.
Working in the medical field showed me how many people could benefit from a therapist who understands their culture, practices their religion, speaks their language, and truly sees them. This experience inspired my commitment to ensuring multicultural, neurodiversity-affirming, and trauma-informed care. In my practice now, I am proud to bring empathy, warmth, and a collaborative spirit to every session.
As a Muslim provider, I ventured into this field to help people who look like me but enjoy working with patients from any faith. I have effectively helped people from the Catholic faith as well as agnostic and atheist patients and am in the planning process for incorporating animal-assisted interventions into my work as I continue my trainings (specifically with cats). Future practices also include EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Islamically integrated therapy as an LPC.
I love spending time with my cats, wandering in nature, sipping iced coffee, and laughing with friends and family. These little joys keep me grounded and help me bring warmth, presence, and care into my work with patients.
